Figure Lore & Legacy
Tygra’s 1985 LJN figure introduced the ThunderCats’ brainy architect and stealth tactician in his youthful form, released before the animated series fully defined his older, mentor-like persona. While Lion-O brought the sword and Panthro brought the power, Tygra offered agility and intellect—reflected in the figure’s lean sculpt and signature Bolo Whip. His “Battle-Matic Action” and standout orange-and-teal color scheme helped elevate him from side character to must-have in any complete Series 1 ThunderCats display.
Did You Know?
Tygra’s Bolo Whip came in several subtle variants, with differences in string length and handle shape across releases. Some Series 1 figures were packaged with a static PVC WilyKat figure, which is often missing from loose finds. Paint wear commonly affects the face, emblem, and whip handle. Tygra is unique in the line as the only ThunderCat to receive two completely different sculpts across Series 1 and 2.
