Figure Lore & Legacy
Teela, the fierce warrior goddess of Eternia, arrived midway through the original 1982 wave, representing a pivotal shift in MOTU’s character lineup. Originally a combination of two characters—the warrior woman and the sorceress—Teela came with a red cobra-themed headdress, serpent staff, ornate shield, and mini-comic. Though Mattel was hesitant about female figures in a boy-targeted line, Teela’s inclusion became foundational, paving the way for more women in the MOTU universe.
Did You Know?
The snake armor and staff hint at her mystical roots, but the same sculpt was later reused for other female figures like The Sorceress and Evil-Lyn with color and accessory changes. The cobra headdress is often missing in loose examples, and complete figures with unbroken staff and intact snake armor are becoming harder to find, making her a mid-range collectible with strong nostalgic pull.
