As one of Mumm-Ra’s core henchmen, Monkian brought brute force and chaotic energy to the ThunderCats villain roster. Released in 1985, his snarling sculpt, exaggerated musculature, and primate features perfectly reflected his wild-card role in the cartoon. With his signature helmet and spiked mace, Monkian was less refined than his peers, but just as vital—a visual embodiment of savagery among the Mutants that helped balance the hero-villain dynamic in early ThunderCats storytelling.

Monkian’s figure is one of the tougher Series 1 releases to find complete, particularly with the correct helmet and intact chained mace. The mace came in two chain color variations—black and red—with the red being less common. There are also subtle figure variants involving the tone difference between the torso and limbs, making full variant sets a challenge for dedicated collectors.
