Figure Lore & Legacy

He-Man was the spark that ignited one of the most iconic 1980s toy lines. Released in 1982, this “Most Powerful Man in the Universe” represented brute strength and moral clarity. Featuring the now-famous twist-waist “Power Punch” action, He-Man came armed with a grey half-sword of power, axe, and shield—all housed in his signature removable chest harness. This figure helped redefine the action figure market and launched a multimedia empire spanning comics, cartoons, and more. As a cultural icon, He-Man continues to symbolize the golden age of Saturday morning heroes.

Did You Know?

He-Man originally shipped with a squishy, hollow rubber head, a feature shared across most of the early MOTU figures. This soft-head version was phased out in favor of a firmer plastic head in later production runs. The grey Power Sword included with He-Man was only half of the full sword—Skeletor came with the other half. When snapped together, they completed the “Sword of Power” as seen in the lore. Finding a complete soft-head He-Man with all accessories, especially that intact shield and comic, can fetch serious collector premiums.
