Figure Lore & Legacy

Bebop, the punked-out warthog mutant and right-hand goon to Shredder, was unleashed on toy shelves in 1988 as a street-level threat to the Turtles. With his purple mohawk, turtle shell shoulder pads, and red high tops, Bebop brought a chaotic style that embodied late-80s cartoon villainy. As a figure, he came heavily accessorized—armed with a trash can lid for a shield and a brutal turtle shell drill. Bebop stood out not just for his look, but for the comedic violence he brought to TMNT’s rogue gallery.

Did You Know?

Like most of the 1988 Playmates figures, Bebop was originally released with a soft vinyl head—quickly switched to a hard plastic version due to molding concerns. The soft-head versions are often preferred by collectors for their vintage authenticity. Despite his bulky sculpt and durability, Bebop’s accessories (especially the drill and shield) are frequently missing or mismatched, which impacts loose value significantly. His MOC versions appear far less often than the Turtles, making a carded Bebop a prize piece in many collections.
